Mr. Alan Rusk Barnes, age 79, of Woodstock, passed away Tuesday morning, December 7, 2021 at his residence.
He was born September 21, 1942, in Atlanta, the son of the late Miller and Bertha McAfee Barnes. He is predeceased by his sister, Millicent Barnes Fox.
Alan had a deep love for all of his family and friends and brought much joy to each of them with his pure and loving spirit. Over his lifetime he was a devoted member of First Baptist Woodstock and Woodstock United Methodist Church where he loved to socialize and worship.
He attended Empower Cherokee of Georgia (formerly Cherokee Training Center) for many years where he developed lasting friendships and participated in community events. He loved playing on the bowling league there as well. Alan had a passion for trains and many Woodstock natives will recall Alan train watching over the years. He spent hours looking at his train books and watching his favorite game shows. He loved music, the theater and dancing.
Alan loved and we are grateful to his caregivers, Ms. Vivian Donehoo, Elisa Casey and the caring staff of Silver Companions.
Alan is survived by his sister Mike (Cathie) Price of Woodstock and several nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
