Mr. Austin Alan Gelder age 38 of Kennesaw, husband of Alisha Gilbert Gelder, passed away Wednesday, May 23 at Heritage Hospice in Marietta. A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, May 28, 2018 in the Poole Funeral Home Chapel. The Family will receive friends at Poole Funeral Home Monday May 28, 2018 from 11a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service. Austin was born November 30, 1979 in Des Moines, Iowa to Gary Gelder and the late Jan Coellner Gelder. He was a 1998 graduate of North Cobb High School, and worked as a Lighting Research Specialist for Underwriter Laboratories. Mr. Gelder served on many different industry committees in his professional life. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved canoeing, kayaking, mountain bike riding and hiking. He was a volunteer coach with the Kennesaw Swift Kids/Kilometer Kids program. Austin was a strong volunteer presence in the Boy Scouts of America, serving in both the Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs. He was also an amateur Scotch and Whiskey connoisseur. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his mother in law and father in law Elaine and Tom Gilbert. Austin is survived by his wife Alisha; sons, Lucas and Jackson Gelder; father Gary Gelder of Kennesaw; sister Sarah Gelder Knowles and husband David and their son Jacob of Jersey City, NJ; brother, Drew Gelder and wife Ashley and their daughters Holly and Lucy of Pendleton, SC; sisters in law Shane Hochbrueckner and husband Tommy of Loxahatchee, FL; and Teresa Kissell and her sons Nicholas and Charlie Norris of Piqua, OH.
