With great sadness, we announce the passing of Barbara L. Naish, 71, of Roswell, GA. Barbara's parents and brothers Michael, Chris, and Jim preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving husband, Steve, son, Steve, daughter Aimee Gardner, and seven grandchildren. Barbara was born at St. Michael's hospital in Newark, NJ to James M. and Jackie M. Burns. She was the oldest of seven children, with six younger brothers. The close knit family moved to Cincinnati, OH and Barbara graduated with honors from Indian Hill High School and Ohio University. Barbara started her career as a teacher and dedicated her life to educating young children. She always worked full time while raising her two children. After relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, she became Director of the Oak Grove Child Development center and over the course of her 25 years there led a dedicated team to turn the school into one of the best accredited programs in the state. A few of her many volunteer activities include mission work in Appalachia, orphanages in Monterrey Mexico, and young mothers association in Atlanta, and the Head Start program in Cincinnati. Anyone who has spent even a small amount of time with Barbara, quickly learned that she is one of the most thoughtful, compassionate, and selfless people God created. She always went out of her way to help people she got to know and just met. Her family knew of many of the people Barbara assisted over the years and is now finding about even more cases of her compassion. She was a close friend, mentor, and confidant to people far and wide. After a diagnosis cancer in the Fall of 2019, Barbara fought this awful disease valiantly with five different types of treatment. All the medical professionals involved commented that she had the most positive attitude of anyone they treated. Barbara passed away peacefully at home on the evening of Sunday, April 5. Services will be schedule once everyone can safely travel and be together to celebrate Barbara's great life!
