Bobbie Ruth Cox, 86, passed away on December 28, 2016 after a brief illness. Funeral services for Mrs. Cox will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church with Revs. Mack Riley and Terry Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park in Smyrna with Poole Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held in the Keheley Center at St. Andrews United Methodist Church from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. before the service Saturday. Mrs. Cox was born November 27, 1930 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Oscar A. and Ira Walker Durham. Mrs. Cox retired from the City of Smyrna Police Communication Center as a Communication Supervisor. She was the first female 911 Operator in the State of Georgia. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her parents; her son, James Thomas Cox; her brother, Grady Morgan; two sisters, Leona Pannell and Martha Carlisle; She is survived by her children, Wanda Cox Vinson (Drew), Sheryl Darlene Cox, Bobbie Jean Cox Ely (Michael), Jimmie Cox Munn (David), and Peggie Cox Hawkins (Kenny); and since her sister, Martha's passing, she became the mother to, Glenda Carlisle Mullinax, Larry Carlisle, Marcia Carlisle Gwaltney, and Vicki Carlisle Lassen; her grandchildren, Shannon Bowen (Chris), Samantha Young (Mike), Shane Addison (Susan), Steven Chilton (Kelly), Kenny Hawkins (Caroline), Amanda Duttry (Dan), Jonas Vinson (DeDe).
