Catherine Stickler

Mrs. Catherine (Cathy) Hess Stickler, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away at her residence early Monday, November 21, 2016. She was 63. A Celebration of Cathy's life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Hillside United Methodist Church with the Dr. John Beyers officiating. Cathy was born February 8, 1953 in Sarasota, Florida to the late Milton and Ruth Leary Hess. Cathy graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood Education. She obtained her Masters of Education from Kennesaw State University, and also her Education Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University. Cathy was an Elementary School Teacher for 14 years in Sarasota County and Cherokee County for 15 years, having taught at Arnold Mill, Avery and Boston Elementary. Some of Cathy's favorite things to do were spending time with her family and friends. She loved teaching the little ones, particularly kindergarten and seeing their growth throughout the year. She also enjoyed reading, singing at church, going on walks, and cooking. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Caroline Hess Bartels, a sister-in-law Dianne Stickler, and her father in-law, Lawrence Stickler. Survivors include her husband, Ed Stickler, Woodstock, GA; son Jonathan Stickler and spouse Lindsay, Roswell, GA; daughter, Carla Howard and spouse Jeff, Acworth, GA; grandchildren, Stella and Shep Stickler, Roswell, GA; step grandchildren Alex and Ava Howard, Acworth, GA; mother-in-law, Billie Stickler; brothers-in-law, Rod Stickler and Bill Bartels; sister-in-law, Regina Hickle; several nieces and nephews.
