Cheryl Dabbs passed peacefully on September 5th from a brain hemorrhage. She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde DeLancey and Meriam Dumont. She is survived by her loving husband Layne; her step-mother Ann DeLancey; her son Robert (Lauren) Wood, Brandon (Heather) Wood, Tara (Jennifer) Duckett, and Ryan (Vivian) Wood; her grandchildren Jacob, Jordan, Jarred, Sevyn, Marleigh, and Harper; her step-children Aaron Dabbs and Taylor Dabbs; and her siblings Gene DeLancey, Tina Resch, Cindy Joos, and Claudia DeLancey. She was also preceded in death by her grandson Owen. Cheri was born in Alexandria, Virginia. Her father was military so she moved around as a child, finally settling in northern Virginia as an adult. That is where she had her four children with her husband at the time. From there, she moved to metro Atlanta, and then North Carolina, where she met her husband Layne. She moved into her mother's former house in Cape Coral, Florida when she passed away in 2017. She poured all of her energy into her children as they were growing up and never let them forget that they were her babies. She extended that love and more to her grandchildren. She also had a huge heart for the struggling souls, often sacrificing more than she had to help them out. A celebration of life will be held at Poole Funeral Home at 1970 Eagle Drive, Woodstock, Georgia 30189 on September 22nd at 3pm with a reception to follow. Cheri did not donate to any specific charity, but in lieu of flowers, to honor her memory, you can donate to a charity that serves those single mothers and/or women who have been taken advantage of. She had a very large soft spot for them. Some I found in her home state of Virginia or in Georgia where she spent a good portion of her life: BeLoved Atlanta (https://www.belovedatlanta.org/) Helping Mamas (https://www.helpingmamas.org/) The Sophie House (https://thesophiehouse.org/) Single Mothers United (https://www.singlemothersunited.org/)
