Clary Wesley Finch, 81, passed away on January 1, 2025.
Born on May 21, 1943, in Rocky Ford, GA, Clary was the son of Thelma Calhoun Finch and McKinley Finch Sr. He was the fourth of six children, joining siblings McKinley “Bunk” Finch Jr., Billy Finch, Archie Finch, Mildred Stephens, and Randy Finch in the close-knit family. After graduating from Statesboro High School in 1963, Clary attended Oglethorpe and Georgia Southern University before serving his country in the Army Reserves.
After leaving SE GA, Clary spent 35 years with Sears Roebuck, working in various roles throughout the southeastern United States. His commitment to his work was evident in his impeccable work ethic, and even after retiring from Sears, Clary continued to stay active, working at Home Depot and Walgreens. He took pride in his ability to connect with people, always making others feel welcome and valued.
Clary was married to Linda Williams, with whom he had a son, Todd Wesley Finch. He later married Martha Crook, and together they enjoyed 44 of marriage in Canton, GA. Clary was a devoted husband and father who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly spending time with his family and friends. Known for his thick, curly hair and warm smile, Clary was a man who never wanted to be a burden to others, yet his presence was always felt. He loved to be surrounded by the people he cared for, especially Martha’s sisters and their partners. A country boy at heart, he had a deep love for the outdoors, often spending his free time fishing or enjoying a round of golf.
Clary was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and McKinley Finch Sr., and his brothers Bunk, Billy and Archie Finch. He is survived by his beloved wife, Martha; his son, Todd Finch; his siblings Mildred Stephens and Randy Finch; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Clary was a man who lived with integrity, love, and simplicity. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a life well-lived, one that was full of love, laughter, and the joy of family and friends.
