David Michael Taylor

DAVID MICHAEL TAYLOR of Memphis, TN passed away on October 23, 2019. He was born on September 28, 1942 to David E. and Arven H. Taylor. He is a 1960 graduate of Messick High School, 1971 graduate of Memphis State University, and 1977 graduate of Rutgers University Stonier Graduate School of Banking. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he served from 1960-1964. He worked for The Federal Reserve Bank for 18 years and continued his banking service with First Tennessee Bank for 25 years, retiring shortly after his stroke 12 years ago. He is the epitome of strength and resilience through many surgeries and illnesses after his stroke. He was a devoted and loving husband to Marjorie Middleton Taylor for almost 31 years, proud father to 4 daughters, and doting Poppy to 11 grandchildren. He loved his family immensely, playing and watching golf, yardwork, old cars, sweet treats and coke, dogs, UT football, cheering on the Memphis State Tigers, and being a friend to many. An incredibly kind person, he was always willing to help anyone in need or offer a listening ear. He was preceded in death by his parents David E. and Arven H. Taylor and brother Joseph A. Taylor. He is survived by his wife Marjorie Middleton Taylor; daughters Julie Taylor (Terry) Hopkins of Kingsport, TN, Jennifer Taylor (Mike) Matwijec of Brentwood, TN, Stacy Diffey (Chris) Jones of Woodstock, GA and Corrie Diffey (John) Jamison of Marietta, GA; grandchildren Hazel and Wren Hopkins; Callie, Cooper, Crosby, Clayton, and Grace Matwijec; Kylie and Brayden Jones; Katie and Cole Jamison. Brothers Philip E. Taylor of Cordova, TN; Timothy A. Taylor (Patsy) of Arlington, TN; Anthony N. (Diana) Taylor of Murfreesboro, TN; and sister Judith Taylor Bline (Steve) of Holly Springs, MS. Uncle Stanley Holliman of Byhalia, MS and aunts Fay Brandon of Pearl, MS, Jean Stubblefield of Coldwater, MS, and Dianne Yarbrough of Curve, TN. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many other relatives. He is adored and honored by his family to whom he provided unconditional love. A celebration of life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Arlington, TN on November 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. The family wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Stroke Association.
