David Robert Gamadanis, 76, of Acworth, GA died Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at his home after a battle fighting cancer. � Born and raised in Atlanta, the son of Jack and Hazel Gamadanis,�David was a graduate of Brown High School, class of 1961. Upon his graduation, he was awarded a scholarship to Georgia State before deciding to play basketball for West Georgia college. Inspired by his teenage years of working in a local drugstore and soda shop, David reached his dream of becoming a pharmacist by graduating from the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy. After college, David served in the US Army where he achieved the rank of Captain stationed overseas and supervising the dispensary in Frankfurt Germany before owning his own pharmacy in Buckhead for several years. David was also active in the Georgia Pharmaceutical Association receiving State Pharmacy Award for District of the Year Director. After selling his own pharmacy, David enjoyed a lengthy career working as a pharmacist for Lacey Drug Company in Acworth and Marietta. He truly loved his profession and especially enjoyed compounding creams for a variety of patient needs continuing to practice well into retirement, maintaining his license and professional certifications. � A lifelong athlete who lettered in 3 sports in college, David continued his love of running throughout his life as well as playing on church basketball and baseball leagues. His retirement years were spent helping coach the student athletes on the North Cobb Christian track and field team and officiating at various USA Track and Field Association meets. David was honored for his service by the USATFGA who recognized his time officiating at track and field events. � Sharing his love of scouting with his son Mark, David became a troop leader and role model to many, ultimately inspiring Mark and helping him to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. David was also an avid aquarist and loved nothing more than attending fish auctions and finding fish and plant life for his many freshwater aquariums. � Most important to David are his family.� He is survived by wife, Dawn (Sheppard) Gamadanis; children, Amanda (and Scott) Bosch; Mark (and Bonnie) Gamadanis, and Olivia Gamadanis; grandchildren, Katie and Emily Bosch; sisters, Jackie (Gamadanis) Fears and Karen (and Kenny) Sturdivant and brother, Dennis (and Leslie) Gamadanis.��� Known for his kindness, generosity and notorious teasing grin, the family is certain David is at peace drinking a cold bottle of coca-cola, with all of his beloved dogs at his side, watching football and cheering, "Go Dawgs!"� David will be remembered by family and friends at a memorial service celebrating his life on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillside United Methodist Church in Woodstock, GA.
