David Zumbrunnen

David James Zumbrunnen died at Kennestone Hospital on December 3, 2016, due to unexpected cardiac complications. He was 69. Mr. Zumbrunnen was born on April 9, 1947 in Niagra Falls, NY to his parents Dale and Margaret Zumbrunnen. He served in the Army in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971, graduated from Wittenberg University with an undergraduate degree in Business in 1972, and from Illinois State University with an MBA in 1977. He married Donna Shoaf on Valentine's Day 1974. The Zumbrunnen's started their family in the Midwest, and settled in Woodstock, Georgia in 1987. Mr. Zumbrunnen had a long and fulfilling career, which started in sales, and over time provided him the opportunity to purchase and run Royal Marble Company for nearly a decade. Never one to stay idle, he spent the past two years working in the Deli at Publix in Holly Springs, Georgia. Mr. Zumbrunnen was active in the community, both as a leader in Indian Guides (now Adventure Guides) through the YMCA with his children, and as part of the volunteer team that helped make the 1996 Atlanta Olympic games possible. Mr. Zumbrunnen is survived by his wife, Donna Zumbrunnen of Woodstock, GA; his son and son-in-law, Daniel and Scott Zumbrunnen of New York, NY; his daughter, Diana Zumbrunnen and his grandson, Preston Landry of Woodstock, GA. A memorial will take place on December 10, 2016 at Covenant Presbyterian Church at 12:00 PM. with a reception to follow at the church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mr. Zumbrunnen's life. In lieu of flowers, please support his love of dogs by making a memorial donation to the Cherokee County Animal Shelter.
