Diana L. Sims

Diana Lee Sims, 81 of 412 Trotters Run, Woodstock, GA died with all of her children by her side on November 10, 2021 at Heritage Hospice in Marietta GA after suffering a stroke. She was born on July 26, 1940 to Frankie Elizabeth and Etric Brown Sims of Rockingham, NC. She attended Hamlet High School and later attended Cosmetology School. She married William Buck Waldrop, Sr of Laurens, SC and they had 3 children. Diana worked as a Cosmetologist for years and later as a Weaver in Laurens Mill. She became a CNA and worked for Martha Frank’s Retirement Center of Laurens, SC and finally retired from the state of South Carolina as a Residential Care Giver at Whitten Center in Clinton, SC.

She loved nature, animals and had a green thumb. You could find her outside working in her yard and pruning her flowers almost daily. She loved butterflies, so much so that her house was covered in them. She wore them on her clothes everyday. She loved meeting people and acquaintances would often times refer to her as “the butterfly lady”. Most of all she loved God. She studied her Bible and started each day with devotion. She gave God all the glory and shared his word when she had the opportunity. 

She is survived by 3 children and their spouses:

Daughter, Ms. Joni Lynn Waldrop. Daughter & Daughter in Law , Mrs. & Mrs. Jackie Denise Waldrop and Christa Jill Waldrop. Son & Daughter in Law Retired Major General William Buck Waldrop, Jr. and Rikki Lisa Waldrop.

5 Grand Children and spouses:

Christopher Lee and Dana Scudiero; Anthony Ramon Scudiero; William Buck Waldrop III and Ale Waldrop; Sarah Miranda and Nate Miranda; Samuel Jackson Waldrop and fiancee Michaela Bush. 

She also was blessed with 6 great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her father and mother Etric Sims and Frankie Jenkins, her husband William Buck Waldrop, Sr, a sister, Joan Todd, and a brother, Etric Sims.
