Donna Pica, 80, died on November 24, 2022, with her family by her side in Woodstock, Georgia.
Donna, originally from Scranton, Pa, graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1960 then from nursing school in 1975. She became a staff and operating room nurse at Community Medical Center (CMC) in Scranton. In 1986, she moved to Sarasota, Florida, where she worked for 31 years as an Ophthalmic First Assistant surgical nurse. For the last four years, she resided with her daughter and grandsons in Woodstock, GA. Donna possessed a knack for decorating and a razor-sharp wit that enveloped every room she entered. She was not easily shaken and a true force to be reckoned with. Donna was a strong, independent woman who worked hard her whole life. She loved painting and crafting floral arrangements. She dabbled in piano and was seldom seen without a list.
Donna is survived by a son, Richard Pica Jr., and his wife Erin, of Scranton, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Debra Childers of Woodstock, Georgia; and five grandchildren: Dominic, Ericka, Matthew, Luke, and Jackson. She is also survived by a brother, Jack Frisbie, and his wife Joan of New Jersey; a sister, Nancy Lucke, of Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Donna’s name to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
