Dorothy “Denise” West-Smith passed away on March 21, 2023. She was born March 4, 1954 to Arthur Noble West Jr. and Dorothy Mae Rhine West in Four Oaks, North Carolina. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, John Michael Smith, her children Jessica Danielle Smith and Ian Michael Smith, two brothers Donald Ray (June Canaday) West and Danny Eugene West, and numerous nieces and nephews. Denise graduated from South Johnston County High School in 1972, obtained an BS degree in Computer Science from North Carolina State University in 1976 and an MBA degree from Kennesaw State University in 1989. Denise enjoyed a 30-year career at The Coca-Cola Company as a Financial Computer System Development Manager and Accounts Payable Manager. In her personal life, she enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, ringing hand bells, singing in the Church Choir and her numerous pet cats and dogs. You could always find her smiling or humming a song. She was very active in her church; Acworth United Methodist Church. She fought breast cancer for 22 years and came out victorious as it wasn’t the cancer that took her too soon. Denise will have a memorial service at Acworth United Methodist Church (AUMC) on April 1^st, at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers Denise would prefer donations to AUMC.
