Elizabeth Jean Boggs Garvin

Elizabeth Jean Boggs Garvin departed this earth and entered into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 6:47 pm with many of her family members gathered at her bedside grieving and worshipping God. Though we grieve, we do not grieve as those without hope.Elizabeth was born in Tallahassee, FL to Frank Boggs and Doris Lyon Boggs on February 14, 1959. Her only sibling, Catherine Anne joined the family in 1961. Elizabeth received a high school diploma from Campbell High in 1977 (Smyrna, GA), and she graduated with a teaching degree from Baylor University in Waco, TX in 1982. While teaching at South Fulton County Elementary schools, she met her husband-to-be James Snyder Garvin, III in 1986, whom she married on June 22, 1991. Two years later, their son Joshua David Garvin was born on March 24, 1993. She leaves behind her husband and son, her parents, her sister Catherine (Boggs) and W.C. Hoecke and children Karl, Franklin and Anna, sister-in-law LeeAnn (Roger) Cunningham and children Mitchell, Ann Marie and Timothy, sister-in-law Wendi (Rodney) Stoddard and children Matthew, Joshua, Rebecca, Michael, Rachel, Jeremiah, Mary Grace and Christopher, sister-in-law Dominique (Draegyn) Levinson and children Robert, Anthony and Benjamin and brother-in-law, Joseph (Leanna) Garvin and children Johnathan, Josiah, Hannah, Joseph and Rebekah and first cousin Lynn (Scott) Holowasko and children David, Jonathan and D'Anna, first cousin Megan Atchison and children Jessica and Lindsey, second cousin Blakney Boggs, second cousins Catha Chamberlain, Paul Ukena Jr., Liza Ukena Catino, Amy Ukena and Jeremy Ukena and their families.She was marked by willing service and leadership in her local church, a love for worship and her family and friends. She reached out to the stranger and visitor with extraordinary love. Each community she inhabited was so blessed by her passionate support and ministry. She took great pleasure in spending time with her husband James and son Josh. God used her to encourage her only sister, her parents and many nieces and nephews, as well as a large number of "adopted kids". It's amazing how many people can be touched by one life. With the gift of hospitality, Elizabeth loved people and connecting people. Her parties were not to be forgotten. Her school relationships stretched on from days at Westminster Schools, Campbell High and Baylor University. Her contacts are full of connections with church friends from Roswell Street Baptist (Marietta, GA), First Baptist Atlanta (GA), Columbus Avenue Baptist (Waco, TX), Highland Baptist (Waco, TX), Challenge Ministries (Jacksonville, FL), Hazelwood Baptist (St. Louis, MO) and First Baptist Woodstock (GA). In the final two years of her life, while she required dialysis three times a week and was otherwise sequestered with very little public interaction, she made it her mission to encourage and challenge others, mainly through Facebook where she was always upbeat and full of faith. After successful liver and kidney surgeries, she did not fully awaken and eventually experienced two cardiac events resulting in her death.Before going into transplant surgery, she reminded the doctors, surgeons and medical team members that no matter if she woke up or went to be with Jesus, she was "Stepping into God's Sovereignty". She believed her life was in God's hands and that He was in complete control. She wrote over and over to all of us: "Do you know my Jesus? Don't wait. Come to Him today." Will you heed her invitation and worship Jesus?
