Mrs. Ella Mae Butts, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Benton House of Woodstock. She was 85. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Poole Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Baumgartner officiating. Mrs. Butts was born April 15, 1932 in Athens, Georgia to the late Willie Ed and Bessie Wingfield Wright. She was a graduate of Fort Valley State College, Fort Valley, GA. She was then employed at Paine College in Augusta, GA where she met her husband, William Butts. They were happily married for over 40 years. Mrs. Butts was then employed by the Medical College of Georgia in the Research Department until her retirement. She was a long-standing member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Augusta, GA until she moved to Acworth, Ga with her sister, Andre Freeman. Mrs. Butts was preceded in death by her parents, also her husband William Butts in 1997. Survivors include one brother, Edward Wright, Jr. Tucson, AZ; three sisters, Andre Freeman, Marian Smith, both of Acworth, GA, and Nancy Blackstone, Washington D.C.; several nieces and nephews.
