Frank DeCosta

Retired SGM Frank Decosta age 87 of Woodstock departed this life Friday, March 24, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his family.  Frank was born in Bradford, Vermont to his parents, Frank and Mabel Jesseman DeCosta.  Frank met the love of his life Elizabeth in her hometown of Eastham, Massachusetts and they shared 66 years of marriage. Mr. DeCosta proudly served his country in the United States Army for 23 years and retired as a Sargent Major. His service included Korea, two tours in Vietnam, and three tours in Germany.  Mr. DeCosta attended the first class at the Sargent Majors Academy in Fort Bliss, Tx.   Frank was an avid Miami Dolphins Football fan.  Mr. DeCosta was a stern man with a gentle heart, he will be missed by all who knew him.  

 

Mr. DeCosta is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mabel Jesseman DeCosta, son-in-law, Arthur Villaverde, brother-in-law Douglas Stone and Great granddaughter Ashlyn Cash. Survivors include his loving wife Elizabeth DeCosta, children, Cindy Villaverde, Beth DeCosta (Yasser Bianuni), and James DeCosta (Jean Marie Hart), 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild and Sister Angela Stone. 

A Graveside service will be conducted Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 3:00 PM at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga. with Military honors performed by the United States Army. Poole Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Woodstock, Ga. is in charge of the arrangements.
