Gary Franklin Freiberg, 70, of Canton Georgia passed away peacefully on October 12, 2017 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Sharon, Gary joins her after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. The son of Albert and Charlotte Freiberg, Gary was born and spent his formative years in Los Angeles, California. A graduate of The Ohio State University, Gary remained a loyal buckeye for the remainder of his life. Gary concluded his formal education by receiving a Master's Degree from Harvard University, and followed it with a lifelong career in residential construction. After many successful years as owner of Gary Freiberg Homes in Columbus Ohio, the family relocated to Atlanta Georgia where Gary continued his career as a Senior Vice President of Venture Homes Inc. A man of exceptional integrity and compassion Gary became the role model and mentor to dozens of construction professionals, business owners, and associates in and around the homebuilding industry. Other passions included family, gardening, and care of his rescue golden retriever Colt. Gary is survived by his daughter Sarah Freiberg Bowser, son-in-law Patrick Bowser, and their children Connor and Eliza. A celebration of Gary's life will be held on Saturday October 21st from 2-4 pm at the Poole Funeral Home in Woodstock, Georgia.
