Mr. James W. Butler, of Cumming, Georgia passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at his daughter's home in Woodstock after an extended illness. He was 74. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2018 at Georgia National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Poole Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Woodstock. Mr. Butler was born April 8, 1944 in Henegar, Alabama to the late James R. Butler and Ruby Kilgore Butler. Mr. Butler later joined the U.S. Army and was involved in the Korean Conflict. After the military, Mr. Butler worked in the trucking business, oil industry, and automobile repair business. He later became a General Contractor and operated his own company RAM Construction. Mr. Butler loved the outdoors, Camping, Fishing, Boating and Gardening. He often spoke of the '55 Chevy he purchased after serving our country. He enjoyed NASCAR and watching all of his grandchildren's sports and activities which he was most proud of. Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his children, Stephanie Butler Eason (James), Amy Butler McCrae (Robert), Stephen Butler, James Butler, and Jessica Butler; his mother, Ruby Butler; grandchildren, Brian Eason, Jordan Eason, Sage Jordan, Elle McCrae, Hannah Butler, Reece Butler; sisters, Doris Underwood, Betty Prather, Bernice Brice, Stella Overholt, Ellen Rucks; one brother Tim Butler.
