Elva Jane Rogers (Janie) passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at her residence in Woodstock with family by her side. She was born September 11, 1931 in Clarksburg, West Virginia where she was a drum majorette at Washington Irving High School. She moved to Atlanta in the 1950's and became a homemaker-eventually settling in the Druid Hills area of Decatur for 46 years. She was a second Mom to several families through the years and adored being a babysitter for numerous children who became family to her. She was an avid fan of old classic movies, big band music, and trivia buff that was part of a team winning trivia group. She also proudly cheered for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Janie will always be remembered by her special friend Jack'. Janie enjoyed traveling, always reflecting on the trip of a lifetime to Italy and France, many cruises, as well as several trips with her beloved friend Ruth Peterman. Her most cherished memories were spent at a second residence with countless friends and family over many years in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Janie was always the life of any and every party, never missing a moment or any excuse to raise a glass to celebrate just about anything. Her favorite quote was: It's 5:00 somewhere". She had a fast wit, and was never shy to share her opinion. She is preceded in death by her mother Lila Claire Sackers, and sister Patricia Ann Seidel. She is survived by her children: son Michael (Judy) Heile of Cleveland, OH, grandchildren Molly, Maggie, Katie, Sally, Anthony and 9 great grandchildren, daughters Debbie (Jim) Stefanucci of Meadville, PA, Stephanie (Mike) Schau of Oviedo, FL, granddaughter Katie (Trent) Fuchs and great granddaughter Mackenzie of Chuluota, FL, Christina Birdie' (David) Ford and granddaughter Olivia of Lexington, KY, and son Howard Thumper' ( Lynn) Rogers of Woodstock. She is also survived by nephews David Seidel, great nephew Spencer and great niece Amelia of Birmingham, AL, John Seidel (Kim) of Toledo, Ohio-great nephews Bradley of Key West, FL-Riley of Denver, CO and great niece Tenley of Toledo, Ohio. In addition, Janie is also survived by a very special niece Nancy Seidel Woroniecki (Jim) of Lenior City, TN, great nieces Rachal Wall (Chris) of Knoxville, TN - great great nieces Marlee and Bailey, great great nephew Alex, and Audrey Poole (Justin) of Nashville, TN, great great niece Lila Claire and great great nephew Henry. A service to celebrate Janie's life will be held at Poole Funeral Home, Woodstock, GA on Friday January 4, 2019 at 1pm with visitation from 12 -1pm before the service.
