Jesse Fairfax

January 24, 1929 — August 25, 2017

Mr. Jesse E. Fairfax of Woodstock, Georgia went to be with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 25, 2017 after an extended illness. He was 88. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Poole Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Sacred Gardens in Sedalia, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday before the service. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering c/o First Baptist Church Woodstock, 11905 Highway 92 Woodstock, GA 30188-3672. Jesse was born January 24, 1929 in St. Louis, MO to the late Jesse E. and Georgia Vera Bohon Fairfax. He was raised on a small family farm and accepted Christ as a teenager. Jesse worked as a Postmaster in Missouri for 5 � years and then as a Postal Inspector for 20 years, before retiring on April 30, 1989. Jesse met Nancy Skelly (a Presbyterian) at a Sunday School class in Pennsylvania and they later married in April of 1979. In 1980 Jesse and Nancy moved to Fairfax, VA. There the Lord led them to a Southern Baptist Church where Nancy was baptized. The WMU Director mentored Nancy and urged them both to go to Ridgecrest for a Foreign Mission Week. That week changed their lives. Thereafter, their vacation time was used to go on Mission Trips. Since 1983, The Lord has opened doors for them to go to 17 countries and 13 different states to work with missionaries. They were Project Coordinators of His Witnesses as Volunteers and oversaw projects and invited others to join them. They had over 100 volunteers from 13 states working with them. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Anita Skelly Fairfax, Woodstock, GA; one son, Donald Jesse Fairfax (Lynn), Omaha, NE; daughters, Joy Lynn Wright (David) Chattanooga, TN, Deborah Sue Bramlett (Larry) Jasper, TN; brothers, Emmett Willard Fairfax (Alice), George Gunn Fairfax (Peggy); sister, Lillian Virginia Fairfax Martin (Jesse) all of Sedalia, MO; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
