Karen L. Britts, 71, of Woodstock, Ga. passed away on February 18th, 2022 after a long illness. She ascended to the lord peacefully at home surrounded by family. Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on October 17, 1950, Karen had been a resident of Cherokee county for the past 32 years, moving from Pensacola, Florida.
After graduating from Findlay High School in 1968, Karen had a full and interesting life working in many different job fields before enlisting in the United States Navy and serving as a Data Processing Specialist for four years.
Upon leaving the navy in 1977, Karen married Tom, whom she met in the Navy, went back to college and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Computer Science Information Technology. She worked as a systems analyst for many different companies around the country as she travelled with her husband to different duty stations while still serving in the navy, and later with a major airline.
After 30 plus years working in IT, Karen left the workforce to pursued her passions of travel and reading. She loved books and music, and was a member of several different book clubs over the ensuing years. She loved playing Bunco, and was a member of her beloved Bunco group for many years. She also worked as a volunteer substitute teacher for local Cherokee County schools. Karen enjoyed playing tennis, and participated in the Atlanta area’s ALTA tennis leagues in her earlier years.
Karen was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for over thirty years, volunteering in several different roles. She was also a member of the bell choir, but her most enjoyable role was being a Sunday school teacher for the youngest members of the congregation. That fit in perfectly with her love of children. Her infectious laugh and sense of humor was well known to her family and friends.
