Lucy Escobedo

Lucy Escobedo, beloved matriarch of the Escobedo Family, passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2025, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Guatemala City, she built a life in Stamford, CT, and spent her later years in Kennesaw, GA. Lucy's life was defined by resilience, compassion, and devotion to her family. A guiding light through generations, she was a source of unconditional love, wisdom, and comfort to all who knew her.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lucy was known for her warm smile, love of music, dancing, theater, and gardening. She took great joy in celebrating life's moments, always remembering birthdays with thoughtful, handwritten cards. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted Catholic and a cherished member of her church community.

Leaving behind to cherish her memory, Lucy is survived by her daughters, Evelyn (Albert) Suarez, Lissette Maciaszek, Luz (Obdulio) Velez, Corina Cruz, Myrna (Michael) McEvoy, Vilma (Matthew) Frothingham, and Shirley Escobedo. Grandchildren, Anthony Velez, Charlene (Owain) Harris, Katie (Chris) Zackery, Albert (Jennifer) Velez, Kelly (Jeffery) Lobo, Steven Maciaszek, Matthew Cruz, William Cruz, Emily (Noe) Sanchez, David Maciaszek, Amanda (Matthew) Akbar, and Nicole Frothingham, and 19 great-grandchildren. 

Lucy is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Alfredo, her parents, Antonio and Angela Hernandez, her first grandson, Alfred Velez, and her sons-in-law, Jerry Maciaszek and Manuel Cruz, daughter-in-law, Marquita Huff.

A visitation for Ms. Escobedo will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm in the Chapel at Poole Funeral Home 1970 Eagle Dr. Woodstock, GA 30189.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 4:30 pm at St. Catherine of Sienna 1618 Ben King Rd. Kennesaw, GA 30144 with Father Neil presiding.  

May the Lord welcome her into His embrace and grant her eternal peace. Her love will remain in our hearts forever.
