Thomas B. Rees, Jr., 81, passed away at home on March 15, 2023, after a short illness.

He was born in Chattanooga, TN on October 9, 1941, and was the son of the late Thomas B. and Virginia Gaston Rees. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lynne Gladwell Rees, his son Thomas (Trey) and his wife Laxmi, as well as his grandchildren Thalin and Liya Rees, all of Burlingame, CA. He is also survived by his sister Gaile Rees Ketchersid and her husband James of Hoover, AL, and their two daughters.

After graduating from South Charleston High School in South Charleston, WV, he attended West Virginia State College where he obtained a BS degree in physics/mathematics. Upon graduation, he was a process engineer with DuPont before joining the U.S. Air Force. He then obtained another BS degree in meteorology at the University of Michigan. He served 22 years in the Air Force as a meteorologist in Viet Nam, Germany, South Korea, and 5 stateside assignments, and also earned a MS degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Utah. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked a number of years in food service management.

The internment ceremony will be at the Georgia National Military Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on March 30. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on the same day at Mountain View United Methodist Church at 2300 Jamerson Road in Marietta.
