Margaret Gay Hosea Geiger, of Canton, Georgia, died Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Parkside Ellijay. A native of Durham, NC, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Haywood and Margaret Neister Hosea, wife of 54 years to Raymond James Geiger and sister to Dr Robert Haywood Hosea of Kinston, NC. Margaret Gay graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology and in her early years was a fashion designer in New York City. She relocated to Wilson, North Carolina in the early 1970s and raised her family there. Spending time with her family and close friends was always a treasured gift to her. She was an accomplished needle crafter, loved her cats and her favorite pastimes were photography, reading and playing bridge. She enjoyed taking her kids to Duke basketball and football games, her father and brother's alma mater. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wilson. Following her husband's retirement from Standard Commercial Tobacco Co., they enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. They spent the peak of their retirement years on a farm in Marietta, GA where they enjoyed time with their children, grandchildren and horses. The highlights of her day were feeding carrots to the horses and hearing updates about her grand donkeys. The last couple of years were spent relishing life with her husband in a magnificent retirement community in foothills of Canton, GA. Surviving is her daughter, Marjorie Geiger Aloi and her husband James Anthony, of Wilson, NC, son Robert James Geiger and his wife, Amy, of Powder Springs, GA. Four grandchildren, Courtney Leigh Gallagher of Louisville, KY, Austin Thomas Gallagher, of Atlanta, GA, Greyson Robert Geiger and Ivy Elena Geiger, of Powder Springs, GA and one great grandson. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Georgia National Cemetery.
