Marjorie Chase

CHASE, MARJORIE IVA of Canton, Georgia, passed away on April 18, 2018 in her home at the age of 90. Born on February 28, 1928 in Clarkston, Michigan to Marie Anna Katherine Drengberg and Ransom Trowbridge Vliet. Marjorie earned a Bachelor's of Degree in Education from Michigan Normal College (later renamed to Eastern Michigan University) in 1950. She met the love of her life' at college and married Ellsworth Harry Chase on September 16, 1950. Shortly after being married they made a home in Livonia, Michigan and had three children. Marjorie was an active member of Norcross First United Methodist Church and many senior clubs in the Duluth, Georgia area prior to moving to Canton, Georgia. Marjorie loved to garden, travel, make chocolate chip muffins with her grandsons and shop at Walmart. Later in life, she often remarked how she'd like to get a job at Walmart as a greeter. Marjorie had a kind heart, a positive outlook on life and the undying love of her family, just as her family has for her. She had a joy for life but her greatest joy are her four handsome grandsons. Marjorie was also the eldest living sibling in her family. Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband Ellsworth and her eldest daughter Charon Caye Chase. Marjorie is survived by her daughter Janet Chase Vitak, son-in-law David, their children Ethan and Connor; son Gregory Lee Chase and his son Arthur; and son-in-law David and his son Jacob. The service will be held on Saturday, April 21 at 11:00a.m. at Orange First United Methodist Church, 220 Orange Church Road, Canton, Georgia 30115.
