Matthew Donaldson

Matthew Thomas Donaldson, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away to be with our Lord and Savior on January 18, 2018. He was 25 years old. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Piedmont Church in Marietta with Dr. Ike Reighard and Rev. Jamie Auton officiating with Stephanie Ford providing music. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to No Longer Bound, 2725 Pine Grove Road, Cumming, GA 30041. Matthew was born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 22, 1992 - his parents 8th Wedding Anniversary. Matthew attended Kell High School where he played the melaphone in the marching band and French horn in the concert band. He earned the rank of Life Scout and enjoyed the outdoors, loving to swim, kayak and hike. He dreamed of hiking the Appalachian Trail and seeing more of our beautiful country, studying many books and maps to plan for his quest. Matt attended Young Harris College and Kennesaw State University. Following college, his interest in the culinary arts led him to pursue a career in the restaurant industry. He enjoyed people and found his work at Atlanta's landmark Blue Ridge Grill to be rewarding, often speaking of the many interesting people he had the pleasure of meeting and serving over the last three years. Matt was a loving and kind son, brother, friend and gentleman and will forever be so in our hearts. Matthew is survived by his parents Thomas and Julie Wiggins Donaldson; his brother, Andrew Donaldson; three cousins, Margaret Wiggins, Sarah Wiggins, and Kathleen Cruthirds; his aunts, Mary Carroll, Sally Wiggins, and Susan Shufelt; his uncle, Ken Wiggins; and his great aunt and uncle, Harold and Jacqueline Nevels.
