Michael Hammel

Mr. Michael August Hammel, of Canton, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2018 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice at Kennesaw Mountain. He was 74. A Celebration of Life service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Poole Funeral Home Chapel with Bruce Publicover officiating. Burial will follow in Georgia National Cemetery at 3 p.m. on Thursday with Poole Funeral Home & Cremation Services directing. Michael was born in Portland, Oregon on March 26th, 1944 to parents Claire & Alvin Hammel. He lived over seas with his mom & step father, Stan Vose. Attended high school at Sevilla High School in Spain. Served four years in the US Army with the Army Security Agency serving in Vietnam & Taiwan. Was a ham radio operator from 1972 to present (WB9GMO). He enjoyed boating at his lake house, riding motorcycles & antique cars. Survived by wife Carol Hammel, Sister Patricia Hammel, Children Stephanie Crowley (husband Thomas) & Michael Hammel (wife Michelle). Step Children Chad Creekmore (wife Liv), Jamie Roberts & Kelly Killimett (husband Kevin). Six grand daughters & two grand sons.
