Nancy Anita Skelly Fairfax, of Woodstock, GA peacefully ended her journey on earth to go to her Eternal Home with Christ on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Heritage Hospice following an extended illness. She was 77. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Poole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at funeral home. Burial will follow in Highland Sacred Gardens in Sedalia, MO. The family will have a reception following the service at the funeral home. Nancy was born in the beautiful Cumberland Valley of south central Pennsylvania on November 18, 1939 to the late John Conrad and Marian Nancy Graham Skelly. After graduating in 1957 from Big Spring High School in Newville, PA, Nancy went to the Bryn Mawr Hospital School of Nursing attaining her Registered Nurse degree in 1960. She worked at the Bryn Mawr Hospital for 20 years. Nancy married Jesse Fairfax, Jr. on April 28, 1979. and lived in Fairfax, VA., as well as Stone Mountain, GA, before residing in Woodstock, GA. Jesse and Nancy started their Volunteer Mission Work in 1983, which took them to 17 countries and 14 states. Since 1993, they served as coordinators of many trips involving over 100 volunteers from 12 states. Their last 19 years were invested in serving the Georgia Baptist Conference Center in Toccoa, GA with its Director Bill Wheeler. They personally recruited a multitude of skilled volunteers from 10 different states. The motto of all the volunteers as they served was: "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed Do It All in the name of the Lord Jesus, Giving Thanks to God the Father through Him." Col 3:17 Nancy was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Woodstock. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jesse on August 25, 2017; her brother, J. Stewart Skelly; nephew Tyler Brehm. She leaves her two sisters, Johanna G. Reeder (Frank) and Melissa A. Brehm (Douglas); one aunt, Mildred Skelly all of Pennsylvania; three nieces, one nephew, one grandnephew, and a grandniece.
