Mr. Orville Ranzall "Ron" Cox, age 91, of Woodstock, passed away Wednesday morning, May 29, 2024. His sons were by his side when he left this world. He was born in Seymour, IN. on April 24, 1933, to the late Werner and Jennie Cox. He dearly loved his family and was a devoted husband of 54 years to his late wife, Betty. He also was a father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. He served in the United States Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean war. After completing his service to the country he loved, he briefly worked in Washington, D.C. before entering trade school to become an electrician in the Florida Panhandle and then with the CDC in Atlanta, GA., where he would eventually retire. He enjoyed going on vacations with his family to the Florida coast, and for a time, he and his late wife Betty enjoyed a second residence there. He enjoyed swimming in the ocean and relaxing on the beach. As a young man, he was introduced to the trumpet and the piano, and for the rest of his life he greatly enjoyed music, especially the genres of big band and classical. He enjoyed playing card games with his family while Gaither gospel music played in the background. He enjoyed watching sports, particularly the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons. He enjoyed country food at Johnboy’s in Marietta. He liked ice cream and homemade fudge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Werner and Jennie Cox, brothers Jim, Terry, Carroll, and sister Kathleen. He is survived by his sons Ranzall (Tammy) and Rick, sister Pat Barnard (Bob), grandchildren Nick, Israel, and Mark, and nephews and nieces. We will miss his wit, laugh, and smile. Interment with military honors will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 10AM.
