Richard Lee Beasley Sr.

July 7, 1941 — January 16, 2025

Mr. Richard Lee Beasley, Sr., 83, of Canton, GA, passed away at his home on January 16, 2025. He was a tremendous man of faith who loved the Lord, his family, his friends and his country. With so many unique traits it is hard to name them all, but his family and friends would say he was kind, nurturing, an encourager and fun loving. He also enjoyed sports, especially the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. He shared his love of golf, the beach, gospel music concerts with his friends, traveling and his “puppies”, Bailee, Brodee, and Mindi. He had a talent for drawing everyone into his circle, since he never met a stranger and most definitely was never at a loss for words or a funny story.

Mr. Beasley was a proud graduate of Berry College; a switchman for Southern Railroad for 11 years; a Special Agent and Criminal Investigator with the IRS of 23 years; and he finished strong as a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker and RE/MAX for 12 years.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sandra Rutledge Beasley, whom he met at Jacksonville State in 1960; his children, Richard Lee “Rick” Beasley, Jr. (Becky), Scott Beasley, Karon Beasley; brother, Glenn Beasley (Trish); grandchildren, Christen Beasley (Michael Hollinshead), Brett Beasley, Danielle Beasley, Baxter Beasley (Faith), Jackson Beasley, Carson Lee Beasley; and his nieces and nephews.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Myrtle Beasley, and his granddaughter, Leah Rachel Beasley.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, January 20, 2025, at Poole Funeral Home in Woodstock. The family will receive friends from 11 to 1 pm. The service will follow at 1 pm in the chapel with Scott Beasley officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta.
