Robert Montgomery

August 11, 1957 — February 13, 2017

Robert Jonathan Montgomery, 59, of Canton, GA, passed away at home on February 13, 2017. He was the younger son of Vern and Josephine (Skelton) Montgomery and was born in Lawrence, Kansas, on August 11, 1957. He is survived by his wife, Pamela (Rundquist) Montgomery and his daughter, Emaline Betty Montgomery, both of Canton, Georgia, as well as three siblings: Larry (Joyce) Montgomery, Wichita, Kansas; Jamie (Donald) Maymon, Brooksville, Florida; Pam (John) Hedden, Prairie Creek, Indiana, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He graduated from Terre Haute North Vigo High School in 1975 and attended one year at Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa, before returning home and graduating from Indiana State University. Bob (Bobby Jon to his mother, Bob Jon to his dad) was a happy and positive man, living life always to the fullest. Music was his passion. He played several instruments, but percussion was his love. He loved musical theater, barbershop, a cappella and jazz, but he would be the first to say that the best part of his life came with his marriage to Pamela on April 25, 1999, and the birth of Emaline on June 11, 2003. Never was a daughter viewed with more delight, or loved more deeply. Bob lived every moment of every day in the convictions of faith in Christ by displaying unwavering kindness and limitless generosity to everyone with whom he came in contact. He indulged himself with hard work and the fellowship of friends and family. He also possessed a twisted sense of humor that endeared him to all, and made him a favorite person to friends and family alike. He would say that he was actually shy and not a people person, but in spite of this, he collected friends everywhere he went and if you were a friend of Bob's, it was for life. His shyness always disappeared as he focused on the needs of others. We are all better people for having known him and he will be sorely missed. We know that Bob lived his life with joy and that he was LOVED ! Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Poole Funeral Home at 1970 Eagle Drive, Woodstock, GA 30189 with the funeral service on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church Woodstock at 11905 Highway 92, Woodstock, GA 30188. If you cannot attend, your continued love and prayerful support would be appreciated. If you have a Bob story or memory that you would like to share with the family, please write it down and bring it to the visitation or funeral and place it in the basket next to the guestbook.
