Robert Zachary "Zac" Grasso, 39, passed away on January 2, 2021 near his home in Sapphire, NC. He was born on February 19, 1981 in Methuen, MA to Robert and Patricia (Dryden) Grasso. Zac graduated from Etowah High School, in Woodstock, GA and then studied at Georgia Southern University. Zac was trained and worked as a master level finish carpenter, and was employed at Gorges State Park, NC for the past three years. Zac found great joy spending time in the outdoors with his best pal "Trigger," his dog. Together, they explored the mountains of North Carolina, experiencing some of God's greatest natural architecture and through this experience grew closer to God. Zac was a dedicated hiker and completed the lower portion of the Appalachian Trail and hoped to reach Mt Katahdin, in the future. He was an outdoor enthusiast to the core and a huge animal lover. Zac touched the heart of everyone he encountered, either through his knowledge of the mountains where he lived and worked or his extreme compassion and willingness to help others. He was very loved by his family, friends and everyone who knew him. He was predeceased by his father Robert A. Grasso. He is survived by his mother Patricia C. Grasso, Ph D, of Woodstock, GA; his sister Jenna Grasso Sanders and her husband U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 Richard A. Sanders of Brussels, Belgium; his niece Caroline L. Sanders of Brussels, Belgium; his nephew Michael A. Sanders of Brussels, Belgium; his aunts and uncles William F. Dryden and his wife Christine of Windham, NH, Stephen C. Dryden and his wife Terri of Acworth, GA, Thomas C. Dryden of Acworth, GA; and many cousins. A Celebration of Zac's life will be Friday January 8, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Poole Funeral Home Chapel.
