Shirley embarked on a fulfilling career journey as an underwriter with Great American Insurance, where her meticulous attention to detail and unwavering work ethic left an indelible mark on all fortunate enough to cross paths with her. Born on September 15, 1946, in the bustling city of Atlanta, Shirley's compassionate spirit shone brightly throughout her life. She pursued higher education and earned her bachelor's degree, a testament to her commitment to personal growth and knowledge.
Those who knew Shirley understood the depth of her character and passions. She found joy in the art of cooking and baking, using her culinary skills to nurture others and create cherished moments around the dining table. Additionally, she embraced the role of caregiver with love and grace, especially treasuring her time spent caring for her beloved grandchildren.
Shirley's legacy lives on through the memories she created and the lives she touched. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Hershel and Gladys Weaver, her husband, Sam Smith, and her older brother, Carl Weaver, who surely welcomed her with open arms into eternity.
Left to cherish Shirley's memory are her sons, Daryl Bowser and Patrick (Sarah), as well as her dear brother, Jerry Weaver, and her sister-in-law, Pat Weaver. Her stepchildren Stacey Trollinger (Rob) and Thad Smith (Jenny) also hold a special place in their hearts for Shirley. Among those mourning her loss are her cherished grandchildren: Connor Stapp, Eliza Hunter, Ava Smith, and Riley Smith.
A celebration of Shirley Weaver Smith's life will be held on July 30, 2024. The Funeral Service is scheduled for 11:00 AM at Mt. Bethel Church in Marietta, Georgia, followed by burial at Arlington Cemetery in Atlanta from 2:00 PM onwards. May Shirley's kind spirit continue to guide and inspire those who were privileged to have known her. In our hearts forevermore, may she rest in eternal peace.
