Mr. W. Michael White, of Woodstock, GA. passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday June 14, 2017 at Northside Cherokee Hospital. He was 74. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2017 at Poole Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Macedonia Memorial Park with Poole Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Poole Funeral Home. The family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org Mr. White was born September 22, 1942 in Washington, DC to the late Weltie Merrell White and Arleen Nutter White Colegrove. Mr. White graduated from Suitland Maryland High school in 1961. MIchael and Gayle Dykstra were married September 5, 1981 and celebrated 35 years together last September. Michael was employed by Curtis Properties in Washington, DC in furniture sales and construction before relocating to Fort Myers, FL in 1980 where he built custom homes and operated a General Contracting business for 20 years. Mike enjoyed his Florida life boating, beaching, golfing, playing 31 and crabbing. He was a diehard Washington Redskins fan. In 2001, he moved to the Atlanta area and worked for and retired from Centex Homes in February, 2008. While living in Woodstock, he also built two cabins in Gatlinburg, TN where he vacationed monthly and enjoyed hosting many family get-togethers over the years. In retirement, Mike had been an avid golfer, recently golfing several courses on The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail throughout Alabama and made a couple of trips a year to several beach and golf destinations and Disney. Survivors include his wife, Gayle White, Woodstock, GA; one son, Mike, Jr. White (Melody), Durham, NC; one daughter, Beckie Brandani (David), Nixa, MO; two grandsons, Jeremy White (Kassi), and Eric White; one granddaughter, Jennifer Essick (Jay); four great-grandchildren, Jade, Madison, Aubree, and Logan; one aunt, Jackie Rutherford, Titusville, FL; also several cousins in Florida; several nieces and nephews from the Midwest. Mike always had a special place in his heart for several great nieces and nephews who he spent a lot of fun times with: Marissa Bormann; Keaton Bormann; his very special Golf Buddy, Zach Bohle, who spent many of his Spring Breaks and Summer Vacations golfing and puzzling with Mike. Pallbearers will be Mike White,, Jr., Jeremy White, Eric White, and Joe Ingram. Honorary Pallbearers will be Zach Bohle, Keaton Bormann, and Marissa Bormann.
