Billy (73) was born in Walterboro, SC on December 11, 1947 to his parents, Louis Dondero and Elizabeth Dondero, who predeceased him. He had two brothers, Louis, Jr., deceased, and Ralph Dondero. After the death of her husband, Elizabeth raised her three boys by herself. When Billy graduated from Colleton County High School, he attended Georgia Institute of Technology. During his time at Georgia Tech, he did the C o-Op program with Southern Bell, working a quarter and going to school a quarter. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1972 and continued to work for Southern Bell, Bell South, and AT&T for 38 years.
Billy was married to Patty Markland on August 11, 1973 and had a wonderful marriage of 48 years. During this marriage, they were able to go on some amazing trips to Hawaii, Alaska, London and Paris. Two wonderful sons, Billy and Ryan, were born into this family and he loved them dearly. Billy was a member of Ousley UMC in Lithonia, GA. He showed his love for God and youth by volunteering to be a youth counselor. Moving to Snellville, GA., brought him to Zoar UMC where he continued to show his love of serving God by helping out in so many different ways.
Billy was always available for his family. He would even take time off from work to volunteer for or be present at any event where the boys were involved. He enjoyed helping them in any way possible. He was the rock that held this family together. Billy’s love for his family, friends and God caused him to be a “YOU CAN COUNT ON ME” kind of person.
The family would like to thank all of you for coming to this Celebration of Life. We also want to express our gratitude for your love, support and prayers during Billy’s illness. We couldn’t he gotten through this difficult time without the support and prayers of my friends and family. Each of you have a special place our hearts. God bless each one of you!
