William Elk

On November 16, 2022, William Charles Elk (Buzzy), passed away at his residence after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 76.

Buzzy was born May 16, 1946, to the late William Charles and Elizabeth Elsie (Roman) in Pittsburgh, PA. Buzzy enjoyed horses and ran a boarding stable where he first met his wife, Arlene. They were together for 53 years.

Buzzy was best known for his quick-witted comments. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends, working on cars that included his long-term career as an Auto Body Technician, riding his motorcycles (Triumphs and Harleys) and his newfound love for Jeeps with his son Erik. He enjoyed the special trips with family (cruise) and to Charleston, SC, watching Steeler games, drinking Angry Orchard, skinny Margaritas with his wife, listening to oldies and ZZ Top, and spending time with his best fur friend’s “G” Gus, Butter, and Shadow.

William is survived by his wife, Freda Arlene (Helman), his children: Jonnetta Flinn (Jeremy), Erik Elk, and cherished grandchildren: Ericka Elk, Kahn Holliday, Montanna Holliday, Kymeil Jones, Nikyah Jones, and great-grandchildren and his brother Richard A. Elk.

On November 21, 2022, family and friends are invited to the “Celebration of Life & Memorial Service” at New Kensington Eagles, 2134 Freeport Road, New Kensington PA 15068 from 3-6 PM to share food, fond memories, and stories. 

In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able donate in memory of Mr. Elk to his favorite charity: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or memorial cards to the family.
