Mr. William A. Whitener, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness. He was 78. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Poole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Cooper officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. A visitation will also be held from 1-2 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home in Canadian, Texas. A Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Prairie Dell Cemetery in Hemphill County Texas. Mr. Whitener was born July 25, 1938 in Wheeler, Texas to the late Gordon Wayne and Bennie May Williams Whitener. "He loved the Lord & spent most of his adult life serving Him through evangelistic work, primarily with children." Mr. Whitener was preceded in death by his grandson Austin Whitener. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 � years, Ada Leen Whitener, Woodstock, GA; one daughter, Darleen Whitener, Woodstock, GA; two sons, Tim Whitener (Melissa), Canyon, Texas and Ben Whitener, Roswell, GA; one sister, Nancy Miller (Gary), Brunswick, GA; grandchildren, Dylan and Jacob Whitener; nieces and nephews.
